E. I. Davis rides the carousel of what might be called college fiction with a GPA of A. Exposed is a novel whose motif is physically represented by its heroine Evelynn Vaughn – said motif being that of one-armed banditry. Similar to the narrative base of Pope’s The Rape of the Lock, Davis’ new novel subtly satirizes the closed circuit world of college campus hijinks by introducing iconic (read: stereotypical) characters into a fictive narrative technique hijacked from the bloodless but high decibel dramas of teen rom-coms.
